Halloween Art Projects

Need to scare up a few activities for your Halloween celebration? We've got just what you need to make this Hallow's Eve a ghoulish delight!

CREEPY HAND DECORATION

Supplies
Non-powdered Surgical Gloves
Popcorn
M&M Candies

Have kids drop one M&M candy into each fingertip for the fingernail. Next instruct them to fill the rest of the hand with popcorn. When they are done, tie a knot in the top. Hang as Halloween decoration.

SWEET DREAMS PILLOWCASE/CANDY SACK

Supplies
Pillowcases
Cardboard - same size as pillowcase (a storage box lid works great)
Sharpie Markers in Black, Orange, Purple and Green

Have kids slip one piece of cardboard into each pillowcase. This prevents the markers from going through to the other side of the pillowcase. Then have kids use markers to decorate pillowcases. The markers are permanent so they will not wash out. Kids can use the pillowcase as a candy collection sack when they go trick-or-treating and remember their Halloween adventures when they go to bed each night.

MINI PUMPKIN PEOPLE

Supplies
Mini Pumpkins
Glue
Sharpie Markers
Craft Materials (sequins, feathers, googly eyes, fabric, etc)

Give each child a mini pumpkin. Ask them to create Pumpkin People using the supplied craft materials. We've had simple creations using just markers and fancy productions with hair, hats and rhinestones. Either way, make sure to get pictures of each child with their new friend.

HALLOWEEN CANDLE HOLDERS

Supplies
Clear Glass Votive Candle Holders (can be small or large)
Black and Orange Glitter
White Glue
Masking Tape

Place one strip of masking tape around the center of the votive. Cover the lower portion, below the tape, with a thin layer of glue. While glue is still wet sprinkle orange and black glitter, covering as much of the glue as possible. Be generous with the glitter and gently pat it on. Shake off excess glitter and let dry. Add candle and watch the sparkly Halloween shadows.

VARIATION: You can also makes stripes (either horizontal or vertical) using masking tape.

HALLOWEEN PICTURE FRAMES

Supplies
Clear Acrylic Picture Frames (the kind that stand up and you slide in pic)
Clear Double-Stick Tape
Orange and Black Bugle and/or Seed Beads (or Glitter)

Give each child a picture frame and some double-stick tape. Ask them to make a frame around the edge of the frame with double-stick tape. Make sure all edges and corners meet.

Sprinkle sticky tape with either orange and black bugle beads. Press the beads onto the tape so it sticks.

Add Halloween picture and enjoy the memories!

TIP

Protect your little witches and goblins from passing cars by making sure they are illuminated. A flashlight, some Reflective Tape attached to their costumes front and back, or Light-Up Glow Sticks (and bracelets) will make sure your child can be seen by passing vehicles on Halloween night.
