It's only been three weeks since school started and I'm already beginning to hear the familiar complaints about doing homework. Face it, nobody likes homework -- not the kids, and not the parents who have to deal with all the complaints.
Well we've come up with a way to make this necessary chore a little more palatable. Instead of their normal routine, mix it up a little by designating one day of the week as "Homework Away Day". You know what they say -- It's all about location, location, location.
On your family's "Homework Away Day," pick your kids up at school and take them directly to a special place you've pre-selected to do their homework. This could be a neighborhood bookstore, the library, the park or even the mall, anyplace they can comfortably do their homework. The idea is that a change of venue takes the homework blues away.
Make sure to bring along their favorite snack for snack time, which also gives you some special time to sit and talk without the usual interruptions of home life.
You'll find that your kids will look forward to this weekly adventure so much, they may even forget the real reason for the trip!
