SUMMER RERUN: Kleen(ex) Up Your Car |

The backseat of my car is always a mess. Empty water bottles here. Half-eaten Chex Mix packages there. Various tissues floating around everywhere. Instead of handing me their trash, or taking it out of the car and throwing it away themselves (a girl can dream...), my children drop it where they may. They must be confused -- the saying is "Out of sight, out of mind," not "In sight, out of mind."
But I've come up with solution that not only keeps the car clean but also repurposes a common household item -- the Kleenex box. Simply use your empty Kleenex boxes as a trash receptacle for your car. The plastic sheeting at the top keeps items neatly tucked inside the box, and with the amount of colds going through every family, there is a never ending supply of empty boxes. One for every member of the family if you must.
Plus when the box is full, you simply throw the whole thing away. This is much easier than the car trash cans sold in the stores, which demand to be regularly cleaned out to combat the residue left by anything sticky or melted.
So this cold season, save up those empty Kleenex boxes and liberate your car from the mess your kids leave behind. Achoo!
