Giveaway time again, and today's terrific prize is a copy of the Wii video game, Boogie™ from the lovely people at Entertainment Arts.  This new game, just released last week, will have you and your whole family singing and dancing your way to stardom... or at the very least across the family room.

What I love about the Wii is that it's not your typical passive gaming system, and Boogie is no exception to the rule.  It demands that you get up off the couch and shake it.  To get your character singing and dancing you must stand up, sing into the provided microphone, move your body and the Wii wand to the beat of the music, pressing various keys to change facial expressions or direction, and even add some fancy disco moves if you want (yes I know I am dating myself...).

With three modes of play there is a little something for everyone.  You can sing, dance, or game mode, which unlike the first two modes challenges you by choosing the songs and dances for you.  As you complete each story, new song titles are added to those available for your use.  Within these modes is the option of playing alone or against your friends.

But before you even begin playing, have fun choosing your own avatar and designing his or her performance look.  My kids loved choosing their various outfits and accessories and I admit I too had my own style.  And then it was out to the stage -- which again you get to choose.

I went for an outdoor set, which looked like a deserted old gas station out in the Mojave.  Perfect for the video I would edit after my performance.  You see after you move, groove and croon you have the option of creating a video out of your act.  Boogie offers many different camera angles and special effects, which easily allow you to turn your simple little song into a world-class video.  

Now I know what you may be thinking.  Singing and dancing? That's a game just for girls.  Wrong!  We took Boogie over to our neighbor's house for a family friendly night and I literally had to demand a turn from the boys, who couldn't get enough of the game.  And it was my son, who really got the most out of his moves as he jumped and whirled around the living room.

The only drawback, your kids will be mortally embarrassed as you belt out the lyrics to that old Casey and The Sunshine Band hit "That's the way I like it", and swing your hips to keep with the beat.  Wait a minute, maybe that's a plus...
