Tips  :   Water Tracker

Everyday I awake with the best intention of drinking 8 glasses of water a day.  It's good for my health.  It's good for my digestive tract.  It's good in my constant battle of the bulge.  And so I arise from bed and drink a full glass. One down, seven to go.

But somewhere in the middle of driving carpool, getting ready for the next girl scout meeting, and working, I get off the track.  How many glasses have I drank today?   It's already 3:30 and I've drank only three.  Forget about it today.  I'll start again tomorrow.

And so it goes... every day.

But I've found a nifty little Google widget that has really kept me on top of my water intake.  It's called the Water Tracker and can be attached to your Google homepage.   Just as it's name implies,  this widget starts each day with a picture of 8 full glasses of water.  As you consume each glass of water you click on a glass and it changes to an empty glass.  Now, each time you start up the internet (which for me is about 100 times a day), you are met with a visual reminder of how much water you have drank so far, and how much you have to go.

I don't know if it's just the visual reminder, or the fact that I'm a sucker for a good list  to cross things off of, but Water Tracker has really helped me keep hydrated.  So if you see me around town and are met with a weird sloshing sound, don't worry, it's just me and the success of my new water tracker.

*In case you don't have a google homepage, let me explain.  I've set my computer up so that every time I go into my browser, Google, my most used tool, comes up as my hompage.  What's cool about this is that you can personalize your homepage to show whatever tools you would find useful throughout your day.  On my homepage I have the local weather, CNN news, feeds from my favorite blog, and of course Water Tracker.  In order to save your homepage settings you need to log into your Google account.  Don't have one?  No worries.  It takes just a few moments to sign up and it's free!
