One of the rites of fall for all parents is labeling all the various school paraphernalia in hopes it will all make its way home each afternoon. But why not involve your kids in this yearly chore, by having them create their own backpack and lunchbox tags with this easy back to school art project?
Simply buy a pack of luggage tag laminating pouches and cut several pieces of construction paper to fit inside. All that's left is to send the kids off with a stack of tags and some markers. As soon as they are finished with their designs, laminate the tags, and use the included plastic band to attach them to the school bags of their choice. You can even use them for overnight bags and travel luggage.
Worried about labeling their items with their actual name? Leave the name off, and you and your child will still instantly recognize their artwork. For a two-sided tag, either instruct your designers to color on both sides of the tag, or laminate two pictures back to back.
Your kids will be pleased as punch to show off their personalized tags the first day of school. I can't promise it will keep you out of the lost and found bin forever, but hopefully it will make those visits a little less frequent.
