During the school morning rush to get out of the house, how often do you hear the phrase "I can't find my backpack!"? This is of course followed by sheer panic, people running all over the house and a final disgruntled parental "We're going to be late!". Well this year we have a simple tip to put an end to this tedious morning routine -- a designated backpack hook.
Sounds too easy I know, but by designating a special hook for your kid's backpack they and you will know instantly if it isn't in it's place long before the morning run around scene.
Where to put the hook? I have some friends who have it in the laundry room or walkway next to the garage, but I actually put my hooks in the kitchen right next to the table where the kids usually do their homework. Because it is centrally located, it's easy for me to keep tabs on the backpack's whereabouts, and if missing, a gentle reminder is easy enough.
Find a nice sturdy hook that matches your decor and install before the school year starts. This way you can fill up this year's new backpacks with the needed supplies as they are purchased.
Having a problem finding lunchboxes as well. Add another hook and give the kids a little responsibility by asking them to empty out their lunchboxes when they get home and then deposit on its new home.
Two less jobs for mom with only a $10 purchase. Works for me, and I know it will work for you too.
