If you have a child who watches the Disney Channel, you no doubt know all the words to all the High School Musical songs and quite frankly could probably act out the whole movie line by line.  

Well hold on to your hats, because Friday, August 17th is the premier of High School Musical 2 and there is no doubt that your kids will be just as obsessed with the sequel as they were with the original.

So why not just embrace this much anticipated event and throw a High School Musical party.  Below are our party plans for the rockingest party this side of East High!


INVITATIONS
Using red and orange construction paper, cut out a megaphone (triangle with point cut off) and basketball shape.  These will be the two parts off your invitation.  Make sure they will fit inside the envelope you are planning to mail them in.

Use a black marker on both parts to add detail to the objects -- lines on the basketball and an outline on the megaphone with an oval drawn at the wider end.  

On the megaphone write "WildCat Birthday!".  The rest of the party information should be written on a white circle, smaller than the basketball, and then glued to the center of the ball.


DECORATIONS
Make large East High School pennants out of felt.  Cut out pennant triangle and use markers to write "East High" and/or "Wildcats".  Hang on walls.

Big Banner painted in Red and White that says "Welcome Wildcats".

Get red or white small plastic megaphones at your local party store.  Write "Happy Birthday (insert child's name)" on them with permanent marker.

Decorate room/yard with red and white streamers and/or balloons.


FOOD
Serve food on cafeteria style trays (available at Smart and Final, Costco or BJ's).

Serve french fries with side of Chili (if the kids will eat it) like those spilled on Sharpay.

Serve cafeteria style food, grilled cheese sandwiches, carrot sticks, jello.
  
Get juice or milk in the paper boxes you can stick a straw into.


CAKE
Make a 13" x 9" sheet cake and cut the edges off to create a pennant shape.  Cover with red icing and then use white icing to write EHS (East High School) or Go Wildcats! in the middle of cake.  You can also use white iceing to outline pennant.  Add some colored confetti sprinkles if you like on side of the cake.


CRAFT
Decorate Your Own Book Bag
Purchase plain totes from your local arts and crafts store and decorate with a High School Musical theme using colored fabric markers or Sharpies.  They are  sold in multi-packs at some stores, so if you can't find them check online.  

Decorate Your Own Sports Bottle
Have kids decorate plastic sports bottle (purchase at local dollar store) with foam sports themed stickers (local crafts store).


GAMES & ACTIVITIES
Backpack Relay
Divide kids into teams and have each team stand in a single file line.  Conduct relay race where kids must fill a backpack with books and school supplies -- and then empty again.

High School Musical Songs Karaoke
Buy or borrow a friend's Karaoke machine or microphone and then have kids sing along to their favorite High School Musical Songs.

High School Musical (original) - Scavenger Hunt
Use the following Clues to lead kids on a scavenger hunt.  Divide into teams.  Start by giving each team one clue which will lead them to the other clues previously placed.  The last clue should lead them to a prize.  Tell each team it is not a race, everyone wins.

Team #1
What was Gabriella doing before Troy called up and came up on her balcony? (Answer: Reading  -- put clue in bookshelf)

What food was dumped on Sharpay's Head?  What do you put on this food?
(Answers: French Fries, Ketchup -- put clue on ketchup bottle in fridge)

What is the name of the high school in the movie?  Go to a window on this side of the house?
(Answer: East -- put clue on East facing window)

What are Troy and Gabriella chosen to do together?
(Answer:  Karaoke -- put clue on Karaoke machine or microphone)

Zeke wants to do what perfectly?
(Answer: Cook -- put clue on stove)


Team #2
Ryan always wears a ___________.
(answer:  Hat -  put clue on hat rack or where you store hats)

What is Troy doing in the beginning of the movie?
(answer:  Playing basketball -- put clue by basketball hoop or basketball)

What do Sharpay, Ryan, Troy and Gabriella get detention for?
(answer: Using cell phone -- put clue by your cell phone)

One of the Wildcats' colors is White.  What is the other color?
(answer: Red-- put a clue by something obviously red)

Gabriella tells Troy that during the same day that he scored 41 points in a league Championship game she invented the space shuttle and ______________.
