The school year is here and that means time to get organized.  Today's Giveaway, the Life.Doc organizing system, by Buttoned Up has certainly helped me do just that.  Now as most of you know, I'm an organization nut and I've always used the notebook method of keeping my family information.  However, as I filled out the information in the Life.Doc, I was surprised at how much information I had left out -- information that can be critical in an emergency.  

For example - I didn't know the blood type of each member of my family.   While we all know to meet at the front willow tree during an emergency at home, what if the emergency is much bigger -- where will we meet off campus?   And while it's all well and good that I know where all the passports, birth certificates and wills are, if something happened to me, would anybody else?

Along with the expected lists of caregiver information and household maintenance contacts, they've included a page for eldercare, perfect for listing all the medical information of my parents and grandmother - information I really should have but have never gotten around to getting.

The book itself is divided intuitively into sections like emergency plan, insurance, dollars and sense etc., but what I really like is that they give you a computer program so you can type in your information.  No risk of someone not getting the information they need because of my illegible scrawl.  

The Buttoned Up people don't just stop at organizing your home information.  They also have books for documenting your household valuables, organizing your next move, a handy kit to keep in your car in the case of a car accident, and a little notebook for your daily to do list.  

After entering in all my information in their books, I can truly say I am more organized and prepared for that next emergency, big or small.  A great feeling that I'm sure you too would love to start your school year with.  Nice housewarming gift for a new neighbor or friends who are moving as well.
